Through our LIFE program, you can explore your gender and other issues in an affirming environment with a licensed master’s-level therapist* who has received specialized training in gender identity issues. Here, you do not have to hide, explain or justify your feelings and thoughts about who you are. However you identify yourself, including preferred names and pronouns, will be respected. We also understand that gender identity may not be the most pressing matter in your life. Prior to starting individual therapy, you will receive a complete psycho-social assessment that covers many aspects including health (physical and mental), employment, relationships and living situation. For those diagnosed with gender dysphoria, the Montrose Center adheres to WPATH standards of care in treatment planning and regarding issuance of referral letters for hormone treatment and sex reassignment surgery.
